When my latest book, Celestina: An annotated edition of the first Dutch translation (Antwerp, 1550), was published in 2005, I was pleased to present a copy to my colleague Gustavo Segade, erstwhile Director of Translation Studies in the Spanish and Portuguese Department at San Diego State University. A renowned translator himself, Gus is also a talented artist. Naturally I was delighted when he fashioned a kind of "product placement" displaying the book for his collection of Abstract Paintings (see his website: artofgustavo.com). When you visit his site, you can read about his inspiring life story, enjoy his art, and (if you are so inclined) order items that feature it.
